how accurate is
breathtech?
A reading produced by
BreathTech is only a guide to your actual blood alcohol concentration (BAC).
The accuracy of a reading
will depend on:
- The conditions of use (refer to owner's manual for optimum operating conditions);
- the age of the unit; and
- the condition of the unit
Even under optimal conditions, accuracy may be as much as 20% more or less than your actual BAC.
THE
BREATHTECH DOESNâT TURN ON
Check the batteries and in
particular make sure the polarity is correct.
how
DO I CLEAN THE BREATHTECh?
Wipe gently with a soft cloth.Ê Do not use any cleaning agents.
WHEN I FIRST TURN ON THE UNIT WHY DOES IT
COUNTDOWN FROM 14 TO ZERO?
If it has been more than one hour
since the last operation, the unit begins a 14 to 0 warmup
countdown.Ê The sensor must be warmed up
properly to report accurate readings.Ê
Therefore, always disregard the results following the initial 14 ö 0 warmup countdown.Ê
ãSATä FLASHES IN THE DISPLAY
This means the sensor is
saturated.Ê Saturation occurs when
alcohol moisture is present on the sensor from a prior use, or after a long period
of inoperability.Ê Without this feature
the unit would display inaccurate results.Ê
Simply reactivate the unit to perform another warm-up cycle.Ê
Repeat this process as many times
as necessary until ãSATä no longer appears.Ê
This may require 15-20 cycles.Ê
HOW HARD SHOULD I BLOW INTO THE VENT?
Blow from between your lips, as if
gently cooling a spoonful of soup.Ê A
distance of no more than 10-20 mm between the vent and the mouth is
suggested.Ê
Always blow into the unit in a
consistent manner.Ê Different blowing
conditions may produce different results.
WHAT IS %BAC?
BAC (Blood Alcohol Content) is the
amount of blood in the bloodstream.Ê
Having a %BAC of 0.10 means that a person has 1 part alcohol per 1,000
parts blood in the body.Ê
DOES BLOOD ALCOHOL CONTINUE TO RISE AFTER MY LAST DRINK?
Yes, blood alcohol concentration can
continue to rise for up to 2 hours after your last drink.Ê
SHOULD I DRINK AND DRIVE?
We do not recommend drinking and
driving.Ê If you are going to drink
alcohol always have a non drinking designated driver.Ê Do not drink and drive.Ê
